Jim Sheppard is CEO and principal of Generis, a national consulting firm committed to accelerating generosity toward God-inspired vision for churches, church plants and multi-site churches across all denominations.

He is an avid student of generosity and is passionate about spreading it throughout the church so Kingdom projects get resourced. Additionally, Jim is a proven leader and inspirational speaker. He is one of the leading consultants in the field of raising funds for churches and ministry organizations, having personally led giving efforts that have produced in excess of $1.3 billion for Kingdom related projects. Jim has coached many church planters to success in launching with a healthy financial foundation. He lives in the Atlanta, GA area with his wife, Nancy, and their two grown daughters.

Workshop Session 1: Pre-Launch Fundraising – Getting Started on the Right Financial Footing
You decided to plant a church, and you were so excited about it until you remembered you are going to have to raise the funds. Is there anything more daunting than raising support for a church that doesn't yet exist? Pre-launch is one of the most important phases of a church plant. It is extremely important to line up funding for your church plant so you will be able to make it through the first 18 months, a time when the offerings of your church will likely not be sufficient to cover the costs. In this workshop we will focus on the fundamentals of success in the pre-launch phase. There are few other factors more tied to launching well and sustaining growth than getting started on strong financial footing. Join us to learn practical tools for launching well!

Workshop Session 2: Confessions of a Church Planter: "What I Wish I Had Known About Giving and Church Finance When I Planted My Church"
The title says it all. This will be a very informative session as you hear firsthand from a successful church planter who will share with you the lessons he learned from planting his church. Shawn Lovejoy planted Mountain Lake Church outside Atlanta, and he will share firsthand the things he would do differently if he were to start all over again. This will be a highly practical session with a very candid conversation from a successful church planter.

Workshop Session 5: High Capacity Givers: How to Cultivate, Solicit, and Repeat Those Large Gifts
Many pastors and church leaders struggle with the topic of high capacity givers – those in your church with a higher financial capacity. It is important not only to understand the strategy behind raising larger gifts for your church plant but more importantly to understand the mind and spiritual needs of a higher capacity givers. This workshop will focus on the principles of major gift solicitation, including a role play among the presenters. You will walk away from this workshop equipped to succeed in this area of church giving.
